Romanos Rizk, American Artist
Mixed-media Collage
$5500 Framed

Romanos Rizk  by Hall Groat Sr.

While gallery hopping on Commercial Street in Provincetown with my family, we often checked out Romano`s Studio set back in from the street. He was always receptive and loved to show us his new directions in oil painting. My son and I marveled at his attention to detail as he was delving into his new passion for classical realism.  His enthusiasm was contagious although every artist has his own hand writing and Romano s and his inventive mixed media collage is how we will best remember him. I have enjoyed living with a fine example of his work and in retrospect wish I had acquired more. For many collectors it is his large abstractions often exhibited in Provincetown establishments they will remember. Romanos Rizk was an active player in helping keep Province town the art center which helped shape American culture, and the go to place for thousands of beach lovers, art lovers, actors, writers , musicians who discover new ideas to broaden their perspectives. Romanos a long time active member of the famed Province town Art Association died April 2013 at eighty-one.

Romanos Rizk Biography

ROMANOS RIZK is one of the most prominent of Provincetown’s living artists and has, for years, enjoyed an international reputation and the accolades of museums and corporate collectors for his striking, large abstract canvases inspired by the Zen philosophy “One With The Tao”. Born of Lebanese parents in Providence, R.I., Rizk moved to Provincetownover forty years ago and set out to establish his own unique style of Abstraction. His success and special place within that genre is attested to by numerous museum invitationals and acquisitions. Trained as a classical painter, Rizk first came to Provincetown to study with Henry Hensche whose Cape School of Impressionism attracted artists from all over the world. Rizk has returned to those roots in his latest series “Lilly Ponds,” depicting various Cape ponds, resplendent with water lilies in styles that merge the finest of Monet’s techniques with the sensibilities of the Orient. The results are breathtaking in their beauty.
