This is a recent 20×24 in. oil painting of Little Italy in Manhattan that I completed in 2022.  There is history, both good and bad, connected with Mulberry St. It seems just about every city, large and small, has one of these iconic streets that interweaves many generations. Built this one up gradually from a warm ground to allow the subtle, painterly, abstract marks to remain and enhance the sense of atmospheric space and light. Pushed the warm/cool color vibration in order to enhance the mood, movement and sense of mystery.
