How to Paint Fabric Folds Demonstration DVD Lessons
In this DVD Hall introduces several classical approaches for suggesting the characteristic folds of fabric, through painting elegant sections of white, red and blue cloth. He describes in great detail how to simplify the folds into simple, geometric shapes, consisting of planes that give the folds a three-dimensional quality. Hall reveals the secrets behind creating brilliant paintings of cloth, covering such topics as observing the basic shapes, painting the foundation forms, modeling the fabric folds, contrasting warm and cool colors, and dark and light values. “Begin by studying the simple relationships of warm against cool and dark against light. Paint the large spots of color first!” He also demonstrates how to soften and merge the large, planar brushstrokes with a synthetic nylon brush to make the fabric appear more life-like.
I received your new DVD, have watched it twice and really love it. You make everything look so easy, you explain everything so simply and in such great detail that it really sinks in! I love understanding the warm and cool colours and the difference between tint and tone at last. It has changed my life looking for the contrasts in everything I see. –Many Thanks, Alanna Co Sligo, Ireland.
