Hi Renee, Your interpretation of my lemon piece is quite successful. The sense of atmospheric space allows the eye to move smoothly throughout the composition, and the top and bottom are unified. In your ocean piece the top and bottom are a bit isolated from one another, but in this painting the tones move throughout. The two lemons on the right are floating a bit, and could be anchored through subtle accents at the bottom edges, along with more of an indication of warm light streaming through the narrow area between the two. There also could be a bit more curvature to the bottom quarters of the lemons through a slight value or temperature transition.
